“Cupa” is a dialectal word that means “slight depression of the field”, where, as a matter of fact, the house  was built. Legend tells that in the place where the house is, St. Peter quarrelled with St. Mark. During this quarrel, St. Mark struck at St. Peter by a watermelon (!!!): a so hard hit caused the current depression.
